Sandra Lord, MD
Dr. Lord is a physician-scientist in BRI’s Center for Interventional Immunology (CII) whose work focuses on advancing new approaches to predicting, preventing and treating type 1 diabetes (T1D) and other immune system diseases. As clinical director of the CII and director of the Clinical Research Center, she works with investigators and sponsors to conduct clinical trials evaluating new therapies.
A major focus of her work is T1D. Dr. Lord serves as codirector of the Pacific Northwest Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet Clinical Center, leading national and international studies focused on identifying people at risk, delaying disease onset, and evaluating new treatment approaches. She is also principal investigator of BRI’s T1D Biorepository, which provides samples and data to support diabetes research.
Before joining BRI in 2013, Dr. Lord earned her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle.
