Benaroya Research Institute (BRI) oversees all clinical research at Virginia Mason Medical Center and BRI, uniquely combining the expertise of a world-renowned medical research institute with the remarkable care of a healthcare quality leader.

BRI supports Virginia Mason Medical Center clinical investigators in over 400 studies across a wide variety of diseases and conditions, such as cancer, digestive diseases, cardiologic issues and neurologic issues, while the research led by BRI clinical investigators primarily focuses on diseases of the immune system such as type 1 diabetes and rheumatic diseases.

Each year, thousands of people generously volunteer as clinical study participants. These studies contribute to improving the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of a wide variety of diseases.
